Meet Ben: Minces PLLC’s Summer Intern
July 21st, 2017 by David Minces
Some of the most memorable times in our lives happen between ages 5 and 18 in the warm, fleeting months of summer. Most kids take family trips, catch some rays by the pool, grab ice cream with friends, and just enjoy kicking back. Other kids do all that and manage to hold down two jobs and prepare for college. Ben Schwierking is one of those “other kids”.
Ben is our summer intern that we wish we could hold onto year-round. Ben will be attending the University of Texas, where he will major in Petroleum Engineering, in the fall on a full scholarship. Ben earned his full ride to UT by graduating number 8 in his class of nearly 800 students at Bellaire High School. He obtained his spectacular GPA of 4.93 pursuing the rigorous International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Ben’s favorite class in high school was computer science and in his hard to find spare time he played lacrosse and was a member of the debate team.
When Ben isn’t making academic waves he is making literal ones as a lifeguard and swim teacher at the Bellaire pool. For fun Ben enjoys playing piano, and watching Netflix, especially the sci-fi show Black Mirror. One of Ben’s hidden talents is his competitive eating ability. Legend has it he can eat an entire pound of beef fajitas.
We are thrilled to have Ben as a part of our team. Although his stay with us is as limited to the season, we will inevitably remember it as fondly as the summers of our childhood.
